Founders of AI startups highlight Dubai’s unique position as a prime location for talent and innovation in the tech industry
During the Dubai AI Week, industry leaders emphasized how the UAE, and particularly Dubai, is standing out as a global destination for businesses, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). As geopolitical tensions rise globally, businesses are increasingly choosing Dubai to relocate, citing its strategic position, tax advantages, and forward-thinking approach to technology.
AI remains an emerging field in many parts of the world, often seen as a “fancy word” with potential but limited practical applications. However, Dubai is proving to be a major exception. Akshat Prakash, CTO and co-founder of Camb.ai, shared his views on Dubai’s AI ecosystem during the panel discussion at the Dubai AI Week. “Dubai has always been early when it comes to AI,” Prakash said, highlighting the UAE’s early establishment of the Ministry of AI. “This shows the maturity and insight of the region in recognizing the importance of AI for the future,” he added.
Prakash went on to explain that while some parts of the world continue to treat AI as a buzzword, the UAE has transitioned AI from a trend to an essential business tool. He credited the emirate for its ability to merge the best aspects of both the Eastern and Western worlds, fostering a highly multicultural society that is both business-friendly and talent-rich. “Geographically, given the political climate of the world, there remain few places you want to relocate to and build a company. Dubai stands out as the best hub for AI talent,” Prakash emphasized.
Nuha Hashem, co-founder of CozmoX AI, echoed this sentiment, noting how the UAE’s forward-thinking approach to AI predates its rise as a global conversation. She praised the country for embracing AI as a practical business solution rather than just a speculative technology. “Dubai is doing the right thing by attracting talent to build AI solutions here. They have the resources and opportunities to build the future right from the region,” Hashem said.
As AI technology becomes integral to businesses worldwide, Dubai’s reputation for fostering AI innovation grows stronger. The city’s strategic location and business-friendly environment, coupled with no income tax, make it a prime destination for companies in the AI sector looking to grow and expand. With Dubai positioned as a leader in AI adoption and development, it’s clear that the UAE is more than just a place for business—it’s a thriving hub for the future of technology.
