Seamless, Ticketless Parking Powered by ANPR Cameras and Salik Accounts Enhances Mobility Experience Across UAE’s Major Malls
Abu Dhabi, UAE – July 16, 2025:
Salik PJSC and smart parking operator Parkonic are bringing seamless, cashless parking to two of Abu Dhabi’s busiest retail hubs—Dalma Mall and Al Wahda Mall—starting Friday, July 18. This move is part of a growing UAE-wide initiative to modernize parking experiences using automatic number-plate recognition (ANPR) and cashless payment solutions.
As confirmed by Parkonic to Khaleej Times, both malls are now equipped with ANPR cameras that automatically detect license plates upon entry and exit. Parking at Dalma Mall will be free for the first three hours on weekdays, and completely free on weekends and public holidays. After the free period, users will be charged Dh10 per hour, with fees deducted directly from the vehicle owner’s Salik account upon exit.
For Al Wahda Mall, final pricing details are yet to be disclosed. However, while Salik integration will not be implemented there, motorists will be able to pay using the Parkonic app, website, or on-site kiosks, maintaining the cashless, barrier-free convenience.
This latest expansion reflects a broader rollout across the UAE. In Dubai, Salik-enabled Parkonic systems are already active in high-traffic zones such as:
Back in November 2023, Parkonic and Salik PJSC formalized their partnership, naming Salik as the preferred payment channel for Parkonic’s growing network of smart parking locations. The agreement aims to provide ticketless, barrier-free parking, removing the friction of traditional systems and improving traffic flow.
Under the hood, ANPR technology captures license plate data to calculate charges automatically. No physical tickets or boom barriers are used, allowing drivers to simply enter, park, and leave—with the parking fee seamlessly deducted.
This collaboration marks a significant step in Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s shared vision for a smart, efficient, and tech-forward urban mobility ecosystem, aligning with broader goals under the UAE’s digital transformation and smart city initiatives.
As more public and private venues adopt this advanced system, the future of parking in the UAE looks increasingly automated, convenient, and customer-centric.
