Dubai International Airport leads with over half a million travellers as smart gates and AI-driven systems enhance seamless travel experience during the festive period
Dubai, UAE – June 2025:
Dubai reinforced its reputation as a global travel and transit hub during the Eid Al Adha holidays, recording an impressive 629,559 passenger movements between June 5 and June 8, according to the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
The Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the world’s busiest air travel gateways, accounted for the majority of this influx, registering 581,527 travellers. Meanwhile, 46,863 people passed through the Hatta border post, and 1,169 passengers crossed via maritime ports, highlighting the diversity and connectivity of the city’s entry points.
In a statement, GDRFA described the figures as a clear reflection of Dubai’s vibrancy and appeal during festive seasons. “This figure reflects the vibrancy that Dubai enjoys as a global hub for transit and residence,” the authority noted.
Major General Talal Al-Shanqeeti, Assistant Director General of the Airports Sector at GDRFA, emphasised the role of smart gates and AI-powered systems in improving the passenger experience. “We have made it a priority to ensure a seamless travel experience through smart gates and artificial intelligence technologies, which have contributed to speeding up procedures and improving the flow of movement,” he said.
He added that this approach is part of a broader mission aligned with the Dubai government’s vision to enhance quality of life by delivering flexible, efficient, and technology-driven services that match global expectations.
The robust passenger numbers during the four-day Eid holiday underscore not only Dubai’s strategic importance in global mobility but also the city’s continuous commitment to innovation and excellence in public service delivery.
