Emaar Malls Extends Rent Support to 50 Outlets as Iconic Tourist Attraction Undergoes Major Upgrade
Dubai’s iconic Fountain is undergoing an extensive renovation project, which has led to the closure of the popular tourist attraction for five months. As the Dubai Fountain temporarily halts its captivating shows, Emaar Malls Management (LLC) has announced a significant move to support the food and beverage (F&B) outlets located in close proximity to the fountain—specifically those along the Lake and Fountain areas at the Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar. In response to the temporary drop in foot traffic, affected restaurants will receive a four-month rent relief from June through September 2025.
The Dubai Fountain, one of the emirate’s most renowned attractions, draws millions of visitors each year. Emaar recognized the critical role the fountain plays in driving visitors to the area, especially for F&B outlets that benefit from the crowds attracted by the stunning water spectacle. Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering long-term partnerships and helping tenants navigate this transitional period with resilience and confidence. The rent relief will apply to around 50 outlets, offering much-needed financial support during the closure.
The final fountain show, held on April 19, marked the end of this phase before the renovation work began. In addition to the rent relief, Emaar has outlined plans to further enhance the area, introducing 400 meters of state-of-the-art digital screens along the promenade. These screens will animate the location with engaging visual content, ensuring that retailers can maintain footfall and create an exciting atmosphere for visitors during the renovation period.
As the renovation project moves forward, Emaar’s proactive measures aim to minimize disruption and ensure a seamless visitor experience, reaffirming Dubai’s commitment to maintaining its reputation as a global tourism hub.
